SONGS FROM A LOST PARADISE
AMNA WALAYAT & TINA WHELAN
The Centre for Creative Practices presents
Songs from a Lost Paradise, a collaborative exhibition by
Pakistani-born artist Amna Walayat and Irish artist Tina Whelan.
The exhibition is an artistic journey that bridges diverse cultural narratives on womanhood.
The body of work that is Songs from a Lost Paradise weaves stories of past glories and celebrations with themes of cultural hybridity, feminism, and shame.
Works feature traditional Indo-Persian miniature paintings and intricate installations, as well as womb artworks inspired by ancient and crafted symbology.
This collaboration, originating from different geographical, religious, and cultural backgrounds, celebrates their differences and togetherness.
On Culture Night (Friday 20 September 2024 5-8 pm) Amna and Tina will be giving an artist talk and tour to explain the works and the methods and processes involved, combined with an interactive workshop demonstrating some of the techniques used in the work.
