OONAGH HURLEY
Oonagh Hurley is a painter based in Cork. A graduate of MTU/Crawford College of Art and Design, her work is mainly figurative, investigating the processes of remembering and forgetting.
Through the lens of memory (remembering and forgetting) she. observes experiences of women in Ireland and beyond in navigating the various territories of the domestic, parenting, relationships and labour/work within ‘societal norms’
In large scale Indian Ink on paper drawings and ink pen and collage on wallpaper, she depicts very ordinary, mundane moments of heartfelt and sometimes bittersweet memories, loaded with the highs and lows, the gifts, sacrifices and compromises of the female condition.
