MARY BOWEN GALVIN
Mary Bowen Galvin is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Cork. A graduate of MTU Crawford College of Art and design. She completed her M.A. by research Fine Art in 2012 and a B.A. (Hons) with distinction 2009.
Her work explores themes of conflict, memory, and power, while simultaneously embracing aspects of absurdity and humour.
Heavily influenced by religious iconography, she uses this influence in seeking to address the concept of how power can be presented and re-enforced through constructed artefacts; and how in turn these artefacts
can then be used to dictate and control behaviour, particularly in relation to the lives of women and girls.
