John was born in Cork City in 1967, was educated at Presentation College and has a degree in Chemical Engineering.

In 1993 he got a studio at Pinewood in Cork where he could follow his passion for painting and had his first solo show two years later. 

He developed his skills at various artists retreats in Ireland and Spain and has exhibited his work many times in Cork City and around Ireland.

John has been a full-time artist for 25 years. He paints still lives, landscapes of Cork City, often en plein air, and portraits of people that interest him, typically in oil on canvas. He mixes his own pigments and varnishes in the traditional way.
