David Barrett, a graduate of the Crawford College of Art, is predominantly a painter of the human figure and portraits, typically in oil paint.

Through long painting sessions he captures the personality and mood of his sitters.

Like Lucien Freud he has a fascination with skin and its endless shades and textures. He has also been influenced by Euan Uglow, William Coldstream and Stanley Spencer.
