ABOUT THE ARTIST
MEGAN COLLINS
Megan Collins is an Irish contemporary surrealist oil painter, who was born in Cork in 1988. As a child of the alone, exploring nature & creativity helped Megan escape into a world of imagination.
Megan has a BA (Hons) in Fine Art Painting, from Limerick School of Art and Design, graduating in 2012. She became part Outlaw Studios in 2018 where she started to really return to her passion and began to heal her heart. In 2022 she was awarded the Agility Award by the Arts Council which allowed her to fuel her dreams.
Megan’s strong use of colour is part of her distinctive style which emanates the vibrancy and resilience of all life and the human spirit. Her work uses a combination of her own symbols, sacred geometry, and a range of cultural and historical references to cultivate her own language which enables her to face her shadow and deal with personal pain, traumas and family tragedies. She hopes her work can destigmatize issues such as domestic and sexual abuse, while raising awareness, and offering support, to anyone who may feel alone in these issues.
