ABOUT THE ARTIST
IRELAND 3000
Ireland 3000 is a Dadaist alter-ego inspired by fellow artists Brian O’Doherty and Marcel Duchamp.
Ireland 3000’s work explores the profound influence of Christianity on our western society while drawing parallels between religious devotion and the faith demanded by the creative process.
Large scale wood blocks are created using a jigsaw power tool to cut and draw figures in wood, resulting in a distinctive aesthetic. The brightly coloured prints are hand made without a printing press. Overall it is a very physical process.
Ireland 3000 has a First Class Fine Art Degree from Limerick School of Art & Design and an MFA from Edinburgh College of Art. He now lives and works in Neukoln, Berlin.
