David Kavanagh is a graduate of MTU Crawford College of Art and Design.

David’s art practice is primarily drawing based, utilising ink and paint on Nepalese handmade lokta paper.

His minutely detailed and observed drawings depict found objects and natural forms to create miniature fictional societies and universes.

David Kavanagh sees his work as an obsessive yet fragmented documentation of a fictional civilisation, one that is reminiscent of our first childish ventures in creating worlds from simple building blocks and found materials while sprawled on the floor. His work explores our primal drive to create order out of chaos as a heroic struggle against entropy.
